2025 Research Grants Awarded

May 2025. The Tomales Bay Foundation Student Research Grants Program is pleased to award 2 grants for research projects in the Tomales Bay Watershed.

Erik Brown has received a research grant in cooperation with his work with UC Point Reyes Field Station and Grizzly Corps.. Project Title: The distribution and ecology of Point Reyes Mountain Beaver (Aplodontia rufa phaea) in Tomales Bay watersheds. Erik is a recent graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Elisabeth Sellinger is a PHD student in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at UC Davis. Elisabeth’s research, is in cooperating with Hog Island Oysters and Bodega Marine Lab. Her Project Title: Exploring Carbon Benefits of Seaweed-Shellfish Co-Culture in Tomales Bay, CA

The Tomales Bay Foundation funds annual research grants with the objective of increasing the scientific and public understanding of Tomales Bay and its watershed as it begins to experience climate change and sea level rise.  The Tomales Bay Foundation is planning webinars in which the grant recipients can describe their research and their findings.

The Tomales Bay Foundation has funded 14 research projects on Tomales Bay in the past 4 years. The Foundation encourages contributions to its Student Research Grants Program. Please visit tomalesbayfoundation.org
